The Journey of Soulotte

I am Mary, and for me, the art of jewelry has always begun with a fascination for the human mind. My background in psychology taught me that we all carry invisible stories—emotions and memories too precious to be left to the fading of time. I believe jewelry should be more than mere adornment; it should be an intimate legacy, a tangible anchor that holds our most profound loves close to the heart.
Chapter I: From Paper to Permanence
My path has never been linear, but it has always been guided by a deep respect for the stories we carry. In 2011, I founded my first jewellery brand, Dopamine, where I pioneered a unique medium: the transformation of fragile keepsakes into resilient, wearable art.
Using a specialized technique to render paper waterproof and durable, I turned tender love letters and wedding invitations into "paper jewels"—ethereal talismans that captured sentiment in physical form. This metamorphosis from the temporary to the enduring caught the eyes of Cosmopolitan, ELLE, and Marie Claire, marking the beginning of my life’s work: giving a permanent home to the intangible moments of our lives.
Chapter II: The Australian Journey
In 2015, I set off on a 4,600-mile journey across the Australian wilderness. Surrounded by raw landscapes and serendipitous encounters, I shared my "paper jewels" at intimate pop-ups, eventually leading to a featured showcase at Vogue Melbourne Fashion Week. The untamed energy of the outback—those vast horizons and rustic textures—still whispers through the silhouettes of my designs today, grounding my artistic vibe in the honesty of nature.
Chapter III: Mastering the Art in London
In 2018, I relocated to London on a scholarship for a Master of Arts, a time of deep focus and technical refinement. I became obsessed with the poetry of metalsmithing—finding the balance where the strength of gold meets the fragility of a leaf. This mastery of form laid the foundation for Soulotte Studio in 2020. I now dedicate my practice to honoring nature’s untamed elegance, crafting pieces that marry organic silhouettes with the rare, hand-selected gemstones that ground my designs.
Chapter IV: Milestones of Mastery
In my world, recognition is an invitation to push the boundaries of my art even further. It has been a profound honor to have my vision recognized by the industry—from my residency with Chow Tai Fook to being named a finalist in the 2024 HKJMA International Jewellery Competition. I view these milestones as a natural evolution of my craft; a journey that led me to the 2024 Hong Kong International Jewellery Show, where I was invited to share the philosophy behind my creations. These milestones serve as a reminder of my commitment to push the boundaries of my craft while pursuing a deeper, more beautiful resonance in every piece I create.
Chapter V: The Heart of Soulotte
In 2025, I opened the doors to my studio on Queen’s Road Central, Hong Kong. This cozy haven is inspired by the warmth of the home where my very first piece was born. To me, High Jewelry is more than an arrangement of stones; it is a personal history rendered in precious metal.
Soulotte Studio is a space for connection—an intimate sanctuary where you are invited to witness the passion woven into every creation. I welcome you to step into my world, and perhaps, together, we can find the piece that resonates with your own unique journey.
