Our Story : A Journey of Jewellery

From Paper to Precious

Hi, I’m Mary! I’m a jewellery designer and the founder of Soulotte Studio.

My jewellery journey kicked off in 2011 while I was studying Psychology at university. That’s when I launched Dopamine, my first brand, crafting unique paper jewellery—think old textbooks, love letters, and wedding invitations—turned into wearable keepsakes. I created a special technique to make paper durable and waterproof, transforming fleeting moments into lasting.

As a newbie in the creative industry at the time, I never imagined my jewellery would resonate with so many hearts! :) I’m so grateful for the love from art enthusiasts worldwide, with my work featured in Marie Claire, ELLE, and Cosmopolitan and worn by celebrities like Sammi Cheng and Shu Qi.

Our Australian Chapter

Life begins at the end of your comfort zone. From 2015 to 2017, we journeyed over 4,600 miles to share our passion with Australia. We dove into pop-up shops, local markets, and tons of promotions to tell our story, even showcasing our paper jewels at the vibrant Vogue Melbourne Fashion Week. Being part of Melbourne’s lively handcrafted art scene was such a joy, and we’re incredibly proud of that chapter!

Along the way, we met so many wonderful people, and I’m thrilled that my paper jewels touched so many hearts in Australia. For me, travel is like fuel for the soul and creativity. This adventure wasn’t just about sharing my work overseas—it sparked fresh ideas and continues to inspire my creative journey.

Mastering the Craft in London

My love for exploring the world through an artistic lens has always guides me through my journey. In 2018, I was thrilled to be awarded a scholarship to pursue a Master of Arts in London.

This transformative experience broadened my artistic perspective and refined my craft, particularly through experimentation with diverse materials such as glass, ceramics, and metalsmithing. I fell deeply in love with metalsmithing, captivated by the challenge of blending its strong, masculine nature with the soft, organic beauty of the natural world I adore. This passion inspired me to found Soulotte Studio in 2020.

Step Along the Path

Looking back, 2021 was a real turning point for me. I was incredibly grateful to be part of Chow Tai Fook's Design Residency Programme, learning from masters in the field—an experience that truly shaped my path. Then in 2024, I was honored to be named one of the top 30 finalists in the HKJMA Jewellery Competition and be invited as a guest speaker at the Hong Kong International Jewellery Show, where I shared my creative journey and love for my craft with a wonderful audience.

Soulotte Studio

In 2025, I took a bold step and opened Soulotte Studio in Queen’s Road Central, a cozy space inspired by the warmth of my home—where my first jewelry piece came to life. My studio is a heartfelt reflection of me: filled with lush plants, glowing candles, favorite books, calming teas, and gemstones I’ve collected over the years. It’s a welcoming place where creativity flows, and every piece of jewelry is crafted with care and love.

To me, jewelry is so much more than adornment—it’s personal, worn close to the heart, and carries a story. My studio isn’t just a workspace; it’s a place to connect, where friends and customers can step into my world, feel the warmth, and see the passion poured into every creation. Welcome to Soulotte Studio, I can’t wait to continue this journey—and create what’s next—together with you.
